RealCart is 6 years old
RealCart was first sold in an on-line retail setting nearly 7 years ago on August 31, 1998. Since that time we have seen a number of shopping carts come and go. Seven years in the technology arena is like thirty-five years in any other area. (Sorta like dog years) This makes RealCart the granddaddy of ecommerce.
RealCart.coms parent company, MummaGraphics, Inc. celebrated its Tenth birthday on September 1, 2003. Our Dunn and Bradstreet number is 79-592-9152. RealCart is here to stay. Since the beginning, RealCart has been about one primary thing: Making it easier for your customers to buy things on your web site. This single concept was the inspiration behind RealCarts design. It is the singlemost reason why RealCart exists today. RealCarts founder invented it out of necessity. In the mid 1990s there was a glaring need for a Shopping Cart that was easy to use by web shoppers as well as webmasters.
After many frustrating trials with virtually every shopping cart available at the time RealCart was born. RealCart is based on a Real Shopping Cart. You know, the one that rolls around and sometimes has that one bad wheel. To learn more about the invention of the original shopping cart read the History here.
Although RealCart has only been available to the public since 1998 it has been in development since 1995. RealCart evolved from a simple order form to a small pop up window to a Java applet (as it is today). With billions of dollars spent on-line every year the urgency in finishing RealCart forced its creators to go into overdrive in 1997 and after much beta testing and usability testing the first version was released. No sooner did we get the shopping cart on-line and ready to sell we had our first order. Our original target date for launching our website, known as RealSoft.com at the time, was September 1, 1998.
We actually sold our first shopping cart the night before as we were publishing the web site. Right out of the gate this shopping cart was destined to become an ecommerce sensation that will be talked about for decades to come.
One might think that the photo on the left was staged, retouched or otherwise modified. It was not. This is an actual picture of RealCarts founder as a baby. Perhaps spending all of that time in a shopping cart somehow warped his brain a little and started him thinking outside the cart at the tender age of 6 months. At any rate, being an Oklahoma Native, Mark Mumma has been around shopping carts all of his life. Think hes obsessed? Maybe he is. Use his obsession to your advantage. Get RealCart now.
